Favorite Baby Toys

Toys aren't just fun for baby. They help them discover things about the world and practice all the new skills they're learning. In the first year of life, they'll go from bright toys they can look at and chew on to toys that they can use to explore different textures and noise to toys they can interact with through things like swiping and turning, throwing and chasing. It can be hard to gauge what baby might like now and in months to come especially when sometimes all they want to do is squish a water bottle, pull wipes out of the bag, or bang a spoon onto a bowl. But there are toys out there that will mesmerize them and help them learn about the world.

Here are the baby toys that moms said engaged their little ones not only for minutes at a time, but months. They're sure to make the perfect gift for the baby in your life this holiday season (and year-round!).

  • "This toy is THE BEST toy we have ever received. My now 2-year-old got it when he was 8 months for Christmas and has played with it nearly every day it has been out and in our toy rotation. Putting the balls through the hole, pushing the buttons, listening to the music. Now that he’s older he loads it up and pulls it around and it plays music. He will talk to himself about the kitty and puppy who are pictured driving the truck. The baby (6 months) ALSO is into it. Lifting the bed of the truck up and down and pushing the buttons to make it sing songs. It is amazing for all ages and stages and doesn't have annoying songs or anything."

Why We Love It

Recommended age: Newborn and up

If you are looking for an activity mat that will last more than a couple of months, then this is for you. Young babies can lay and play by kicking the keys to hear music. Then babies around 3 months can start using it for tummy time with keys that entice them to use those back and neck muscles. After that, babies can sit in front of the piano and when baby is able to walk, the keyboard can be removed from the mat. But this activity gym doesn't just have that engaging piano. It also has a mirror and different textured hanging toys that make sounds for baby to explore.

Weight: 2.2 pounds

Dimensions: 27.01 x 36.02 x 17.99 inches
